Frequently asked questions
What are your qualifications?
I am a Certified Baby and Child Sleep Consultant and studied through Baby Sleep Consultant Training, whose program is recognised through the Institute of Complementary Therapies. Their training is evidence and science-based, and in line with the AAP and WHO recommendations regarding baby sleep and SIDS/ SUID.
When is the best time to start sleep training?
I offer a newborn package that provides information on how to gently get your newborn into an age-appropriate routine, what's normal in regard to their sleep, and tips for settling and resettling at that age. At this stage, babies don't have the capacity to learn to self-settle or self-soothe.
I usually suggest starting the more formal sleep training after the baby has reached the 12-week mark or any time after that.
Will my baby cry?
It depends. It depends on many different factors - including what kind of settling method we are working with and your child's temperament and personality.
But it’s important to remember that no matter what technique you choose, this is not the crying of a baby that is abandoned and left alone and unloved but that of a baby who is tired and frustrated that you are not providing the same environment which they are used to.
Which program is best for me?
Please get in touch with me, and we can discuss different available options. My phone consultation is available worldwide, and I have worked with clients in Australia, the UK and Germany.
I also offer home consultations in select areas of Melbourne, Victoria.
